A beloved voice of the Midwest Radio community has been silenced. Emily McVeigh, formerly Burke, has passed away, leaving a profound impact on her family, friends, and listeners. But the story of her final days is a testament to her strength and the love that surrounded her.
On Friday, November 14th, 2025, Emily's life came to a peaceful end at St Joseph's Ward, GUH. She faced her illness with remarkable dignity and courage, a true inspiration to all who knew her. And in her final moments, she was embraced by the warmth of her loving family.
Her husband, Sean, and their children, Lucy, Jamie, and Grace, are heartbroken. Emily was the heart of their family, and her absence will be deeply felt. But they find solace in the outpouring of love from relatives, neighbors, and friends who cherished Emily's presence in their lives.
Here's where we invite you to pay your respects: Emily's repose will take place at Suaimhneas, on the grounds of the Church of the Annunciation in Clarinbridge, on Sunday, November 16th, from 3 pm to 6 pm. The funeral mass will follow on Monday, November 17th, at 11:30 am, with burial in the local cemetery.
And this is how you can be part of the final farewell: The funeral mass will be broadcast on parish radio 106.2 FM and streamed on the parish website (clarinbridgeparish.ie). For those attending the removal, please queue through the church.
A note on tributes: The family has requested that only family flowers be sent. Sean and Emily's house will remain private, honoring their wishes for intimacy during this difficult time.
As we remember Emily, let's celebrate her life and the joy she brought to so many. Feel free to share your memories, condolences, and well-wishes in the comments below. And for those who knew her, let's keep her vibrant spirit alive in our hearts.
